Memorial Day Lake Trip

We headed back from St Louis on Saturday, picked up JD at my parents, and got back on the interstate to head to the lakehouse. We always go every year on memorial day with Robby's family. We got there Saturday night, played some games, celebrated some birthdays and enjoyed eachother's company. Sunday and Monday, the rain fell...alot...We did get to go out on the boat a couple of times. It was chilly though. I got in the water with all the kids and boy was it cold! The things you do for your children! JD had his first boat ride and did great in his lifejacket. I expected that he would get mad when we put it on but he was just as content as could be.

Sunday night was packed full of games, apples to apples, spades, hearts, hand and foot...you name it we played it. We also made a bonfire and made smores...and then it happened. To start off, we have a golf cart at the lake now to go up and down the big hill to the dock. The kids were playing in the cart down by the lake--we had taken the keys out to be safe. They kept telling us they needed the keys and we told them they could not have them, just pretend to drive. Then my brother-in-law said, "wouldn't it be funny if they did have the keys and started it and drove into the lake" of course just making a joke. A couple of minutes later we hear a click and look over and sure enough the boys are sitting on the golf cart as it starts moving towards the lake. They had not gotten the key but I guess from putting their feet on the pedal, released the emergency brake and since the cart was on a hill--it started moving towards the lake. Robby, his dad, and Sean, all ran over to them and Robby's dad jumped in and put the brake back on and the cart stopped. My heart was racing and so was everyone else's. The crazy things that can happen in a matter of seconds. They are no longer allowed to play on the cart even if there are no keys around!!!
